Toyota Camry?
umm, you need a tacho to operate a shift light, otherwise, how does it know what RPM to come on at? :s

The tacho signal should be a brown wire. Atleast it is on a VT.

im sure you'll need an input from the tacho atleast so it can actually activate on the rmp you want it to turn on at... :/

You do not NEED a tacho for a shift light.
You need a 12v source, a ground, and an RPM signal, either from the coil negative, or if you can find the tacho wire, usually brown wire hidden on passenger side somewhere.
