Hey guys, i have a VS V6 Auto
I went to start the ute and i had ignition lights come on hear the fuel pump but nothing when turn the key, no clicking noise nothing. Tried in neutral same thing no go.

Someone suggested locking and unlocking the door with the remote a few times which did fix the problem, the ute starts now. They said the immobiliser needed resetting or such.

It happened again this week and the same thing unlock and lock the doors a few times fixed it.

Question is what is causing it to happen and how do i fix it?

Is the key making good contact with the slip ring ?

Try gently bending it out a bit and see if that makes any difference.

There is no separate 'immobiliser' per se, it's just a feature of the BCM, so you can't really 'reset' it or do much to it. It's why BCMs and matching keys are sold together. At a guess the BCM is looking for the key and can't find it, probs time for a new battery in that key although I can't say that will fix it.

With the slip ring, just make sure both of them make good contact (some people forget there are two), pry them up slightly.

Finally got around to looking at this problem, turns out the wire was off the slip ring. simply put it back on and all is good now.
