Nope. Holes don't have to be round. In the past I've made punches for one off jobs when using a thinner material but I don't think that would work on this stuff. Normally I just use a cap screw, drill out the center to the desired hole size in the lathe and cut down the OD and grind a sharp edge and then all you need is a large hammer.

In an ideal world I totally agree.

When you’re done, could you make some shims for this for me?

So the plan was to work on the VT today, then get it off the car ramps and take it for a spin around the block unfortunately things didn't go to plan.

Battery is low, the car is locked with the door dead bolted and the key won't open it and my old battery charger is faulty, when I hook it up the amp meter goes of the gauge and the plug is showing signs of serious heat stress aka the plug terminals are "melted"!

**** it.

Just went and bought a new Ctek MXS 5.0 battery charger and the battery is now on charge.

In other news, the first mod is in progress. We'll be upgrading to LS style ignition with one coil per cylinder.

Finally got the car unlocked, have now taken the battery out and will leave it on the charger over night.

Is it normal for the Ctek chargers to run quiet warm?

If the battery is flat then the little ctek will pump close to 5A into the battery during bulk charge, stage 3 or 4. Such will make the unit warm but it shouldn’t be burning hot to the touch.…

In later stages the current drops quite a bit so the unit gets less warm to the point it’s hardly warm when in float or pulse charge (stage 7 & 8).

I don’t think you have a problem but I’d keep an eye on it during the first few uses, especially in the bulk charge phase. Such is just needed to ensure you don’t have a dud.

At the end of the day, current flow = heat. The question is whether you have a toaster or a led lamp… Luckily the ctek isn’t a toaster :p

I checked it last night and again this Morning before heading off and it wasn't as warm so I'm quiet content atm. Will check again tonight, it should be done by then.

I’ve noticed my ctek 5 amp (ct5) gets quite warm under load too
