    Kumhos a hard compound? Best you re-evaluate your assumptions buddy...The KU22 is a medium compound....The only hardish compound they do are 4X4 and light truckers

    Goodyears….They have been crap for 15 years + and getting worse year by year

    Bridgestone....I'll agree with you....A good tyre

    I've been running the exact tyre Losh is running on my lowered VC.....My back is stuffed and I can tell you the car is nice and comfortable to drive.....

    yes kumho is harder and noisier to most other good types.
    goodyear overall is much better tyre compound than kumho and your rite about kumho they better suited for 4wd but there are better tyres for road cars but dearer.
    I can't argue with bridgestone, their old american brand firestone was the best

    with a stuffed back, it wouldn't matter what tyres you use unless you pump them up to 100 psi thumbsup

    also drive in the hills in winter with crappy roads, low air temp and freezing bitumen or at high speed at plus 35 C temperatures and you will see how good kumho really are, any new tyre is great on smooth city bitumen like the t to t at 50/60 kmh

    I drive through mountains at minus 10deg C. Never had the Kumhos let go. I had other tyres that did in the middle of winter.

    I am glad your OK if any tyre let go on you in those conditions, I know what it is like on rough icy roads and have a issue, no one wishes that on anybody, I am not implying kumho's let go.... you posted about ways to improve handling on your ute, welll there are better tyre choices than kumho obviously which would help and all the other lil things involved like sidewall height etc etc. you get the best package you can afford. simple,

    I had no problem with Kumhos apart from the wear rate. I wore mine out in 30,00 kilometres. They were still superior to Continentals, cheaper
    and had the same wear rate. Handling was about the same.

    I ran Kuhmo's in NZ conditions for a few years and they were fine, a bit noisy maybe but they seemed to last ok. I guess you just need to realise that you don't go into a corner at 110% when the tyres are cold? They would have gone on a few skiing trips too back in the day.

    A pity you don't have a Costco where you are. I was quoted a price the other day for 235/45/17 re 003 tyres of about $150 each.

    I'm running Bridgestone potenza adrenalin 225 50 16s on my maloo
    Think they're about $220 a corner and lol lucky to get 30k out of them.

    But I'm also lucky if I do 5k a year in it now.

    Need to repair 2 of my 17s and start running them again.
    Even when a daily figured 1.5 years use versus handling was worth the cost .

    Maybe heavier sway bars to help control some of the body roll and keep your more compliant suspension setup your going for.

    yep I was trying to say earlier kumho are a harder cold compound and cost effective than most good brands and last longer thats why taxis like them but they are noisier and in a ute compared to a sedan the noise is applified without music.

    good combo your running, from memory the hsv maloo originally came out with 225 55 16 goodyear tyres.
    Yes spending a bit more for handling is definitely worth it. yep a thicker rear sway bar is needed for stock utes for body roll, lowered utes wouldn't suffer as much hence why I use helper air bags inside my rear coils to stiffen springs at low pressure unloaded and higher pressure to help suspension/shocks when loading 1/2 ton weight

    I have run Feds before my KU22s are quiet as a sleeping baby compared to those. I have no noise issues at all.

    I will be looking at thicker rear sway bar as well a strut brace as i have spare coin. But even just fitting Lovells has improved the comfort a reasonable amount. Handling is as good or better too. KYBs will help both comfort and handling i suspect. They are probably going on in two weeks as they will take at least 10 days to arrive.
