incorrect engine number

Hi, I'm not sure if I'm posting correctly. I purchased a car registered in NSW. I'm in Vic. The engine numbers on the paper are VAUF****** followed by the 6 numbers. When I checked the physical engine numbers on the car they have the same that are on rego papers minus the UF. Does anyone know if its an RTA mistake and will I have any problems at vicroads? The rest of the engine numbers match.

But if I recall correctly vicroads needs new rego so the NSW one is irrelevant. When you go to rego it just use the engine numbers on the car/VIN plate and you should be ok. The country Vicroads offices are usually pretty good and will help you out if you need it (used to live in that area), just don't bother going into the city or anywhere near it.
