In the past three weeks I have had a problem where the indicator will be on (left or right) and the indicator will just stop. This only happens intermittently. I cancel the stalk and put the indicator on again. Sometimes it works properly straight away sometimes you need to do it 2-3 times. Any ideas?

I don't know if this has any bearing, but 4 months ago I changed the drivers door lock actuator. Now all the indicators flash (twice) when I unlock the car but do not flash when I lock it.

    Cheers.

Next time it fails, tap the hazard switch and see if they come on.

A faulty hazard switch will prevent the indicators from working.

check the hazard switch first, you can also pop the switch off and bridge two wires to get the indicator circuit going, but i can't remember which ones they are. also check to see if the indicator stick is plugged in properly and the main dash loom is plugged in properly, had a similar issue ended up being the main dash loom had worked loose at its connector above the fuse panel

when you say it just stops do you mean it just stays on constant or it turns off completely?

if i was a betting man i would put my money on it being a faulty flasher relay. over time the contacts become melted due to the constand on and off motion. when they get warm they can stick together. best bet is to get an electronic flasher relay for about 20 bucks from an auto store.

Thanks for the replies. aussie4life11 the indicator just stops flashing completely with the stalk still in the left or right indicator position. When this happened I put the hazards on and once or twice it got the indicators going again, then the hazards would not do anything.

I will try the electronic flasher relay as soon as I can.

Sounds like a faulty hazard switch to me.

Looks like problem solved. Replaced the flasher relay. Seems all good.
