    Hey All,

Quick query regarding the programming of the indicator - when you tap it either up or down momentarily, the indicator operates for 3 signals

My question - is there anyway to reprogram this feature so it operates for longer (say 5 signals?)

Car in question - MY12.5 VE SS

I've been wanting this too, but for the opposite reason. I only want the indicators to stay on for as long as I push the stalk down; i.e. I'd like to be able to do 1 or 2 flashes as necessary.

I think I asked this question a few years back but nobody knew of a solution..

I say contact your local Holden dealer , as the bcm controls your system , the only thing I can think off is to ask your dealer and find out if you can add a extra module to your blinker system. to extend the power time , too the other guy the only thing is too bypass it in your bcm some how , you may be able to change it from a tech 2 scanner tool.

i can only say 100% for camaro's, but since theyre VE based, it should be the same.

there is a dude in the states that can reprogram the indicators to do whatever you want. the reason i know is i contacted him to seperate the brake signal from the indicators so i could install amber rear indicators without too much fuss.

the quote back was $800 USD, i had to send my BCM to him. its not something that can be done via the OBD port, needs to be hooked into BCM directly and then reprogrammed. he can do other things like turning off DRL and whatnot.

so if its worth 800USD pluf freight both ways, then ill see if i can dig up his contact details.

Whatever you decide, for on-road use, vehicles must comply with all ADR (Australian Design Rules) requirements. Indicator lights happen to be one such device included in said requirements. If you are relying on 3 flashes from the indicator in order to signal your intention(s) to change lanes, then legally you may not be signalling for an acceptable duration in order that following traffic can realistically interpret your intentions. Remember, Australian Road Rules require that the vehicle changing lanes MUST give way to ALL traffic - i.e. following and in adjacent lane(s).

Although when making any lane changes or any move that requires indicators, legally you are supposed to indicate three times before making change.

Thanks Ari, but I don't want it that much!

There must be someone here that can do it? Someone like Zerone or Ultimate Conversion Wiring perhaps..

as far as i know, GM out did themselves when they wrote the code for the BCM's and its insanely difficult to hack the language. also there were some read/write timeout speed issues which ended up bricking quite a few BCMs in the process. the dude i was in contact with was an ex_GM programmer and had inside info on the code, but (unless someone else has) he was the only guy in the states that could do it.

I must say I dislike the way my VE flashes three times with one touch. I like to be in control of what I do and what I want to do.

Having not driven another modern car for some time, do they all other brands do this three flash thing now????? If so it must be an ADR I would have to deduce.

Many newer cars do it yes. It's not an ADR. You can cancel with it a flick of the opposite side indicator.
