Hey there, Been a long time since I have modified a car my last one was a 64 EH .....Now I have been bitten by the bug again...LOL I scored a VS Equippe for really cheap, but as usual it comes with its own probs. Not only don't the drivers side window and back window go up or down, but when I have the headlights whenever I use the indicator and it flicks off after the corner the high beams come on. I have to play with the indicator again to get the high beams off. Anyone have this prob before and have any cheap solutions? I just replaced the automatic antenna today and that was a nightmare in itself considering someone had half of it stuck to the panel with blue tac ??!! If anyone's got any ideas at all where to start tackling the indicator/high beam flash I would really appreciate it......Or to push my luck any idea how to fix the damn windows? Annoying when only the 2 on the passenger side work, I can hear the motors working but no window movement....:bomb: Cheers in advance Liza
Hi Liza, With your high beam issue, its sounding like a fault in the indicator stalk itself. I understand it does odd things with high beam when it self cancels the indicator, but does it also do this if you were to manually flick the indicators on and off, even when stationary? Assuming im correct, a new indicator stalk will fix this. With your power windows, my first thoughts is a fault with the window switch as it happens to be both windows on the drivers side. Can you work the rear door by using the rear switch? Make sure child lock is not on when you try this. If no change here, since you can hear the window reg motor trying to work, i'd be pulling off the door trim to have a closer inspection. Look for anything obvious that is out of place or bent etc. Also try disconnecting the plug from the bottom of the reg and putting power and earth to it direct from the battery. It doesn't matter what order you place the wires, as one way will send it up and the other way will send it down. Hope that helps and gives you a starting point. Cheers

Hey Cander I took the steering column apart and had a look, nothing seemed to be out of place or missing, so put it back together and went to the auto shop and bought a new indicator stalk. Put it back together again and everything working like it should, even the cruise control is working!!!! So happy.... only $65 and a bit of work and all good. Next will be the windows, about to head back out to the garage now and take the door trims off........Thanks for your help,,,really appreciate it. Cheers Liza
I tried my best to get all the door trim off......Wow there are a lot of hidden screws in that one door. I couldn't get the trim totally off because I couldn't work out how to get the door button off. One thread on here said to use an O Ring Puller. I went to Supercheap, Repco and another car store here and they looked at me like I was on drugs when I asked them for one....LOL So I tried to see as much as I could without loosing the temper and destroying the door button. The motor is definately working but there is no movement at all. Was thinking I have to try and work out the door lock button so I can really see what is happening. I don't want anyone finding out that if they want to break in all they have to do is push down the window :lock: If I can work that out or if you have any ideas (hint hint) then I was going to take off the passenger side and look at that and compare them.
The orange part of the door lock button unclips outwards to release the lock from the rod.You have to get something sharp like a knife point behind the orange part and unclip it outwards.They can sometimes need a fair bit of force to unclip them.The o ring pick tool has a sharp metal pointed end and sometimes a sharp metal hook at the other end (looks a bit like some dentistry tools) for picking out o rings etc.
