    hi

how hard is it to remove a vs inlet manifold, what do you have to do?

can fuel rails and injectors come off without removing manifold?

and will a vx inlet manifold work on a vs without changing ecus? as there same engines as the vs model

Use the search function this topic has been covered plenty of times. but to answer your question
The upper manifold which is the one with the plenum chamber is quite easy to remove, you do have to disconnect fuel lines, vacuum hoses intake pipe and also the injectors are attached to the bottom of it so they come off with the plenum.
The lower manifold which sits in the valley is a bit harder to remove, same as above but more bolts to undo and also have to undo the alternator and a few other things.
As for interchangeability between models you wont need to change the ECU but i believe that the vx doesnt have the temp sender in the same spot other then that they are basiclly the same.

Temp sender is located on the air box, but even then you would still be wrong, as it is located on the Lower Inlet manifold for the VS, not the Plenum. The VS didn't come out with an EGR Valve which is why you CAN'T swap a VT - VY Plenum with a VS.

can you put a vt/vx inlet manifold on as a whole onto a vs

and what happens if you put a vx plenum on a vs

Seriously, did you not just read my reply, or are you just trying to piss me off?

VX Plenum WILL NOT work on a VS as they use an EGR VALVE!
VX Lower inlet manifold may also be different as there was a slight head change with the oil galleries.

FstStig, the EGR may not be an issue as it will be easy enough to bolt a plate over the hole.

Maybe the whole point is to add the EGR :)?

Fitting the temp. sender for the gauge to the VX manifold is a drill and tap operation.

I think there willl be issues with using the VX upper on a VS lower because the PCV was moved, reportedly to better distribute the PCV vapour across all cylinders and improving idle quality, and the valve and vapour channel is inbetween the upper and lower parts.

I was unaware of any differences in the heads wrt the oil galleries, unless it is the changes to the PCV routing to which you are referring. Other than that, swapping the complete assembly across shouldn't be any problem.

The injectors will come out without removing the inlet manifold but a special tool (as simple as a modified sealant tube cap) is required to disconnect the fuel hoses.

Removing the lower will involve draining the engine coolant and because the valley (oil drain back) is exposed and likely to have some coolant drain into it, the engine oil should also be changed.

Adding EGR to a VS will also require a ECU change otherwise the engine is going to run like dog with all that extra air (Exhaust gases if you will) coming into the manifold from the EGR. Really all in all, the cons out weigh the pros to fit a VT onwards Plenum. You wont really see much notice gain apart from a slightly smoother idle.
