So the other day I went for a drive and came back and decided to change my air filter. When I opened the air intake it was Id say hot to the touch inside. My next question is is this normal?? + surely this cant be good for her. Is there anyway to combat this such as thermal sheeting on the sides of the cai (outside)?? just so I know shes getting colder air?? Can anyone elaborate??

Cheers boys.

What type of CAI? Some can suffer from heat soak. Not really a good thing.

As immorality said the OTR type (stock) can cop a lot of heat from the rad when the car isn't moving. I had one on mine til I blew it but in hindsight I'd never use one again, standard box, home mod or Mace all the way IMO.

Does anyone know what the temp should be. I ran the tech 2 and my mace cai is at around 65 when idling.

Depends on air temp and how long you've been stopped. Mine (monaro cold air intake with some extra foam and shrouding added) usually sits 5-10 degrees C above ambient when cruising around and 20-30 degrees above ambient when idling with fans running. Haven't seen 65 in winter.

Get a MACE CAI, idle temps will still creep up but running temps once moving drop down to are fairly damn close to ambient.
