g'day all my mate has a vs wagon, the inside fan for the heater and air con is intermittent, if you put the switch on doesnt matter what speed it works sometimes but more often than not it just comes on when it feels like, ive heard it could be the resistor located under the wipers, any help would be greatly appreciated

This is the how-to for the fan speed resistor. http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/holden-commodore-how-s/20644-vr-vs-interior-fan-faulty.html If it is intermittent though I would be replacing the "ignition relay". Its called the igniton relay but doesnt have anything to do with the igniton. Its found near the steering column inside the car, first one on the left. Start by replacing that relay. If that doesnt fix it check the connector on the fan itself (behind the glovebox). If that still doesnt fix it check the fan speed resistor and replace if necessary as per the instructions above. Dont think it would be the resistor pack though, more likely relay or bad connection.
