    Hi All,

Hope someone can give me some advice, I am going to be installing some fogl ights into my Adventra and just wondered if anyone know's how to remove the factory plastic covers that Holden put in instead of the fog lights. I don't want to start bashing around in case there is a trick to it. I attached a picture to show you what I mean. Any advice would be great.

    Cheers
    Pete :)

You could probably push the covers out from inside the front bar, there will be some clips that keep it in place.

Unless the covers are part of the front bar! you'll be outta luck.

Thanks Paul, I can move the covers around, so I know they arn't part of the actual front bar (thank goodness). I will keep trying to figure it out. If I do I will post it on here in case anyone else tries to do it.

from memory when i did the VX they push out from the rear, they do just clip in

Search for VX or VY or VZ fog lights, its all the same setup.

You also ned the new healight switch with pullout fog light switch and the relay

The SX6 doesnt look right without them, dad wasnt going to order his with them until I pointed out how ugly they look, their designed to have them so why not have em even if you never use them

Thanks heaps Torquative, I will take your advice. If I get them out without destroying my whole front bar I might put together a quick "How to" I have been wanting to do one for ages, but everyone seems more knowledgable than me LOL

Thanks for everyone's help. I have now installed my foglights and new headlight switch into the VZ Adventra. A lot easier than I expected, all the wiring was there, all I needed to do was install the actual fog lights, insert a relay into the relay compartment, and put in a new headlight switch that allowed for fog lights. Everything works, even the little dash light that says you have your fog lights on.

VZ adventra fog light type or part number

    Hi All,

Know it's been a while since this thread has been used. I was wondering if someone would be helpful enough to maybe have a part number or be able to tell me if the VZ SS fog lights fit in the VZ adventra, as I'm finding everything for the bloody thing is Adventra specific

    Thanks in advance

Not according to the GM parts list, they have a different part number for Adventra v SS/Calais. I don't know what the difference is. Superficial observation is the Adventra fog lights have a different lens glass.

Awesome advice thanks everyone, I have the same issue, VZ Adventra without fog lights and I too want to fit them, just a couple of things though, was the wiring for the fog lights already behind the front bar when you pulled the plastic covers out?? And when you installed the new light switch inside was it a case of unplug old and plug in new switch? In other words did the plug behind internal headlight switch already contain required wiring to operate fog lights ?? Thanks heaps, I only joined these forums this morning and have learnt heaps already, you guys rock....

I did this job many years ago. From memory I only need to buy three parts. A pair of genuine fog lights (I picked up a second hand set from eBay), similar to these:

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Commodo...950409?hash=item441da24709:g:VXgAAOSwiqFad~xu

    or brand new from Holmart:

    https://www.holmart.com.au/new-genuine-holden-commodore-vy-vz-adventra-fog-li

A genuine light switch that had the fog light function (I bought from Holden - was only about $50 back then) and a relay that needed to be installed in the fuse box under the bonnet and again I bought that from a Holden dealer. Found a combined set. Check out how much they are brand new from your Holden dealer.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/HOLDEN-...778659&hash=item1ca8bc53cc:g:6msAAMXQltxQ62f6

Installation was pretty easy. With the genuine parts, I just pulled out the plastic covers. They are only held in by plastic retainers and they just pull straight out the front of the vehicle. I was able to find the three holes that the three screws at the back of the fog lights slotted into once the plastic covers were removed. There was also the connector for the light switch just sitting there. So I plugged in the wires to the connector and tightened up the bolts (this was pretty hard, but with some effort and lots of swear words it can be done.).

Next I removed the light switch which was also a little tricky but eventually it comes out, someone described it here:

    https://forums.justcommodores.com.au/threads/ss-headlight-switch-installation.219106/#post-2463169

Once I changed the switch over, I plugged in the relay into the correct spot in the relay holder under the bonnet and when I turned it all on it worked, including a light on the dashboard to tell me my fog lights were on (I didn't know there was a light for it until that point).

In another post someone suggested to check that the wiring connectors are there once you pull the plastic covers off as they stopped putting them in after '06. Not sure, maybe a good first step, otherwise they said they had to do all the wiring as well.

Hope this helps. Most of it's from memory and I am sure someone will point out any mistakes. Good luck, but I am glad I did this for my Adventra, makes it look more complete, took me about 2 hours from memory because I had to figure it all out as I was going.

Thanks. I have installed the fog lights and the relay and it was all there ready to go like you said. Those bolts were a lot of fun to put in. The lights from the sv6 and sv8 go straight in. I am just waiting for the switch to arrive from ebay and it should all work. Thanks for your help.
