I've been reading lots of threads - some with confusing/conflicting information regards to swapping/upgrading the instrument clusters

I have an sv6 manuf nov 2010 (its a seriesII)

I want to upgrade the instrument cluster either to a Calais (triple-lcd) or HSV (triple-lcd) and would simply like to know which ones I can install... (I have real difficulty reading the red LCD in the sv6 - red/blue colourblindness is a serious issue when looking at the sv6 screen)

I have the option of buying a brand new 2011 HSV cluster... or a March 2012 calais cluster (from a calais with the same engine and transmission as mine, and almost the same mileage).

Will the Calais one work (i realise it may need some reprog for the vin number and to get the mileage exact) or should I go for the HSV one? I'd prefer the calais one if it will simply swap out as it is more 'standard' (putting the HSV one in would seem a little pretentious to me).

Its a bit hard to say what is exactly required with the Series II (Black backed clusters), as very few people have played around with them and programmed them up.

Both the above clusters will work (with a bit of programming), however I dont think the mileage algo has been nutted out yet for these clusters).
So if you fitted the Calais cluster, you will be stuck with whatever Kays it reads on the odo.
If you fitted the HSV cluster and it reads 0 kays, then the kays can be programmed up to read the correct value, however getting a HSV cluster programmed by Holden
to work with your car can be a big hit and miss.

DoubleDip a member here (From Ultimate Conversion Wiring) has programmed a couple of E3 HSV clusters up to a number of models, and would probably be the best man to speak to in terms of what is possible and what the costs involved are.
(I know HSV E3 clusters are the hardest ones to get working in a Non E3 model at the moment), so I guess it really comes down to what you want your ODO value to read, and how do you want your cluster to look.

I hope this kinda helps ?

    HI,

Did you go ahead with this mod?

I did it a year ago on my MY11, and am currently looking into to doing it again on my 2013 MY12.5 that I have only recently picked up.

At the moment, the best option that I have is a new 12/10 Calais cluster, but I am on the lookout for a later cluster if I can find one.

I tried like hell to get a new Calais cluster but couldn't. Just upgraded the sedan to a wagon and am still looking to get one. If someone can hook me up?

Problem was nobody in Oz would post to NZ... and the dealer over here wanted three times what they were being sold for in Oz to get one through the *proper* channels.

My local dealer is having a go at installing my brand new 02/12/10 Series II Cluster into my 2013 SV6 Z today. If it fails, I may decide to sell the cluster, and being very close in production date to yours, I expect that it would work no problems.

What is the part number and software version of the current cluster in your car? You can access it through engineering mode.

    Cheers.

Good luck for me. Calais cluster is installed and working perfectly, even though manufactured over two years before the current car.
