After enquiring about insurance for my new VF I have noticed a vast disparity between quotes. I am guessing there will be a big difference in what it and isn't covered and the experience during the making of a claim. I would like to hear some of your experiences good and bad and where you got good quotes and good service.
I've had nothing but good experience with AMI , with claims and quotes , I don't know how they are In. Australia but in NZ they are very good I get a good package on both cars .
I have my Redline with the 310 pack insured with AMMI and no extra for the mods. Most other companies either don't cover you or want to charge a lot extra
I pay $83 per month with QBE include excess-free windscreen and window glass cover. No claims yet , touch wood.
RACV - lowest price I could find and only company bar Just Car that would insure an under 25 y/o to drive a V8. I pay just over under a year and that includes almost 5k worth of mods insured, but I do have 3 cars and a house insured with them. Have claimed on one of my previous vehicles and I found them to be great - understanding, polite and efficient.
I was with RACQ for a bit with my Clubsport until they axed the agreed value and wanted a fortune to insure my VF SS ute. RACQ were VERY good when I had to claim on the Clubsport though (third party identified at fault, non-driver classed as accidental but stupidity damage, had the whole side of the Clubsport resprayed). I'm now with NRMA on my ute, $480/yr, new for old in the first two years, all mods automatically covered (providing they're legal), can't complain really. RACQ wanted almost $800/yr and don't do new for old.
There are to many variables with insurance companies....will beat any by $100....next year full price....miserable service etc.etc. As a guide line...2013 SV6 sedan...no mods....with NRMA and all my house insurance, greenslip blah. etc.....$32500 for 1 year $434.81.....I also get free Rego.(NSW) because I work for the Commonwealth Government and they pay me the Pension for services over the last 50 years in taxation Payments.....no doubt you would be helping with the payments....Thanks a Lot.......
VF Redline ute full comp over 40 Youi 1300 with new for old for two years Budget 509. 500xs market value Coles 380. 700xs market value.
I have been insuring with AAMI for years and made a couple of claims in that time and never had an issue. Always settled things quickly without any problems I have just insured my VF Redline ute with them with all my modifications, as long as the mods are legal. I have agreed value all for $640. Budget and Coles are more restrictive on mods I found and I don't think I would risk Coles going by a lot of reviews I have found on the net.
I'm looking at going with QBE for my VF. I want to do a few of the typical things like full exhaust, intake, lowering and look at getting the cam done in the future. How are they with modifications to the vehicle? The only thing I can gather through their policies is that they allow modifications to the vehicle, but they don't really go into what sort of modifications they actually allow. If I was to take a guess I'd imagine it's pretty similar to most policies where they allow anything and everything as long as it's legal, and it's not super/turbocharging.
Never use RACV. I cancelled all 6 of my policies with them after it took them 4 weeks to even make the decision to repair my wife's old car and then another 7 weeks for the repairs to be done, total time without the car - 11 weeks. It was only a $50k car not a freaking $200k car they should have just written it off.
Hi $380 is an absolutely fantastic quote to insure you car through Coles insurance...well done on that. Regards, RTSV6UTE
I was insured with AAMI for over 20 years. Had one small at fault claim over ten years before. I was on the Diamond Level loyalty program, meaning free replacement car and a further 15% off the premium. Two years ago at renewal, my quote came in at over $1,200 compared with about $800 the year before. I queried the increase, and they told me it was correct. It caused me to check elsewhere, and I found no one else was quoting anything over $850. I queried them again. Same result, premium stood. However, they told me it was because of claims for my area. I got sneaky. I ran a quote request for my address, which came in at $1,800. I then checked the properties both sides. Guess what? The AAMI quote for them was well under $800 for exactly the same details, i.e. $1,000 less. Rang them again. Result was they said that they understood what I was saying, but quote stood. Not surprisingly I went elsewhere. Coles gave me the life time maximum no claim bonus that I had with AAMI for a premium of around the mid-$400. With an 18 year old driver now added, it is still well under $600. I expect AAMI was trying to take advantage of customer loyalty. They blew it. I will never insure with them again.
I only had my premium increase significantly once and that was the second year on a motorcycle I purchased new and I changed it to another insurer. I have been with AAMI with something for over 20 years as well and this has never happened again. All you can do is price around every year like I do and take it from there. I found Coles and Woolworths cheaper. Not saying they are bad but after a lot of googling I found a lot of people had issues when they went to claim. I wasn't willing to take the risk!
AAMI did similar to me about 18 months ago, with a house insurance policy though. The renewal came through for $1150, up from $900 the year before. I also had my car and wife's car insured with them and all for several years with no claims. I didn't bother chasing them up, just did a few online quotes and ended up taking a policy with SGIO which was $900 and covered a higher amount. As the car policies expired I shopped around again (some big, some small insurers)and found SGIO the cheapest. Currently my 2013 SSV commodore is agreed value insured for $700 a year. Happy with SGIO at the moment and some numpty reversed into my partners car a couple of months ago ( not her fault but we called them to advise) and they were extremely helpful. We still shop around every year though to check the premiums don't jack up too much. No such thing as loyalty anymore, load of bollocks
Fekason..........you experienced the same as I did a few years ago, same story, same circumstances, same figures, only GIO. End result, I split my 3 vehicle insurances that were with GIO, to APIA and Shannons. (And they still seem to be the best value.) The following year I got an invitation from GIO offering the lowest premiums I had seen on the 3 cars. "Come on back, sucker"......no thanks, shredded it. My opinion of some of the cheaper on-line insurances is to "get you" in with an initial low premium, then whack you later when they have "got you"
My insurance is due on my VX SS in the next few weeks, I have been doing a bit of a ring around. The SS has only done 85,000 km in 14 years, I have had it from new so has to be worth a bit more than one that has 250,000 to 300,000 km on the clock. I want agreed value on it not market value due to the low km. RACV who have had it for 14 years are the dearest at $817, they initially wanted $893 but after a phone call they reduced the premium. Shannons was $735 but on a limited use policy, which on this car would be ok as it doesn't get much use. AAMI and GIO were $648, only thing with AAMI was no choice of repairer, leave the car with them and who knows where it gets fixed, not too keen on that. Shannons had the best agreed value an extra $1500 and a slightly cheaper excess. Still tossing around who to go with at the moment, thing is I have my house and contents insurance with RACV and I have a feeling moving the car insurance to another company will probably increase the house and contents as the multi policy discount will probably alter. Whole thing is a bit of a pain.
I have all my stuff with Shannons. What I like about them is that I always get a real person based in Aust. who knows what I'm talking about when I have cause to ring them.
