I am installing a roof-mounted dvd player, and LED lights into my VS berlina, And had a question about the wiring.

There are 2 wires for the interior light, orange and orange/black. Can I just hook up the LED's to these and they will work as a replacement for the interior light? The wiring is all done, I just need to find a way to make them work with the doors and standard switch.

Also, the DVD player has door + and - wires. Would these just be to turn the light on with the doors? And if so, can I just leave them disconnected, and the DVD lights still turn on using the switch on the unit?

yes the leds can be connected straight to the orange and orange black( from memory the orange black is neg, but check it with a multimeter, and also make sure the leds are 12v ready) and they will turn on when the unlock button is pressed/door opened

as for the dvd player im not to sure, if you could find out wat the 'door +/-' wires actually do then we can work from there

Thanks for that. The LEDs work when connected directly to an old car battery so I know they work fine.
It doesn's say in the manual what the wires on the DVD player do, so I might just try wiring it up and leaving them off. It couldn't damage anything could it? Expensive toy to be experimenting with
