Hey people, ive got a couple of questions on interior mods on a VB commodore

firstly ive been told painting the vinyl is a good place to start. How easy is all of that? do you have to do much to the parts before u paint them?

I was thinking VR/VS front seats, does anyone know whats involved in getting them in?

How hard is it to make your own door trims? i like the idea of a custom door trim, any ideas on materials for that?

and one last thing lol, i need suggestions on the best back seat from any of the models that will fit in without too much trouble, im assuming this gives me options from VB - VL.

thanks people

with painting the vinyl youve gotta make sure you prep the surface properly or the paint wont stick. i think you can get stuff to clean of all the grease and oils etc off vinyl just not sure what its called or maybe use a solution of diluted thinners ( just dont leave it on too long ). making door trims isnt too hard, use youre old ones as templates. youll need some thin wood or metal if ya prefer, spray adhesive, foam and whatever material ya choice to use, vinly, leather blah blah and just shape and stick. people have done seat swaps often so someone on here would have done it and can tell ya exactly but youll probably need to check the seat bases to see how much you may need to modify ( if at all ) and check width, height etc

Get some vinyl spray paint and spray away! But if your planing to paint the hard plastic parts, get some plastic primer for that.

I think the drivers seat can bolt in. If not you need to get 85 VK seat runners, these bolt up to the seat and can bolt straight into the VB.

Its not that hard really. You need a lot of patiance though!. As for materials well what do you want? Vinyl? velour? cloth? or Leather?. Can use all 4 if you want to.

Thats about it really, VB-VL fit straight in, the VN-VS need some mods and a minor retrim.
