hey all, well i have a few questions.

#1 my back passenger seat pouch is ripped on one side, how would I go about fixing this? and what would be the damage? holden said something but knowing them it'd be a fortune.

#2 how much are we looking at to spray paint 2 mirrors from black to the color of the car?

#3 my brother said that if i was to get 18" inch wheels (98 vt exec.) i'm looking at a fortune to get engineered, what exacty is involved when doing this? he said he had paid over $1000 just to get legal 17"s on his last car, i am so depressed, i can't waste that sort of money.. even if they are nice... what exactly can the cops do in regard to size anyway?

    thank j00.

My 18s cost me 1700 with tyres. Dunno wot hes talkin bout with the engineered thing though. . . . .
You can go 2" wider than standard.

Go to a pnael beater to get a quote for the mirror, wouldn't imagine it would cost too much.

Do a search on the ripped seat pocket, there is a thread in this section on it somewhere.

thanks i will do it now!
i heard that the standard size was 15" on my model so 17" would be legal until i need to get engineered to legally drive with them, ive seen vt's with massive rims and i just wasnt sure, cheers tho

No worries, with the tyre thing, as far as I no anyway, its not the actual rim diameter, its the width of the rim.
As in the original S rims on my were 7" wide, my 18' are 8.5" wide, so I only went up 1.5" I coulda gone to 9" if I wanted.
So what ever yours came out with 2" more!!!

You'll get away with 18's no worries, just make sure u tell the insurance co, they should be fine with it aslong as the RTA is. . . .

Oh yeh, how kool is The Spaulding man? ? ? !!!

Maybe he was talking about camber, I have seen some VT's with 18's on (non lowered) and their camber is not correct. I have 17' VR Clubbies on mine and I think they look just fine.

Will cost you hardly anything to get the mirrors sprayed, probably $100 each.

Post up pics when you get it all done, it should look good.

as you go to bigger rims sizes .... you go down to smaller tyre profile sizes... i've seen 19"or 20" rims with tyres that look like Cobb & Co coach wheels... and are just as rough on your suspension as coach wheels too.... maybe thats what your mechanic was talkning about...

He is probably attempting to make money out of you.

People have 18s on there car with standard suspension although it would look weird been so high up with big wheels.

I had 19s on my car for ages with no problems at all.

You dont need it engineered, you can get a placard for tyres to replace the other little sticker i think inside the drivers door to say standard is 17" so you can go up to 19" then without cops picking on you.

Ive attached the laws regarding rim sizes in VIC.
