Intermittent o2 sensor Fault

Hi all
I have been having a issue with my vz 05 sv6 where the check power train light comes on I have had it scanned and it the fault read 02 sensor bank 1 sensor 1 we cleared the code and the issue went away car runs great for 5 or so days and then comes back my mechanic reckons it’s bad fuel and needs a long drive to flush out the system I have put 2 tanks of 98 and a fuel system adjective to clear the system, like I said dosnt come back on for a couple of days then driving the car normally it returns . Any advice on what’s going on?

No, bit far from the Sunny Coast.
Bank 1 should be passenger side of engine and sensor 1 should be closest to engine.
Look down the exhaust on passenger side of engine and you will see the o2 sensor poking out of the pipe.
Easy to change when cold.
lift the black plastic engine cover straight up and away then trace the wiring to a plug and unclip then unbolt the sensor from the exhaust.
Fit the new sensor and refit the wiring connector.

Also depends what you are scanning it with.
The cheapo scanners will often just give a code, some high end ones like the GScan can be interrogated and give more direct information.
Been chasing an intermittent one myself (although its a rear one staying higher volts), which the GScan gave some really concise info.
I use my cheap one for clearing/finding the code but use the mechs one where possible for more info.
So knowing what the code is and some other issues it pulls up can certainly help with pinpointing the problem.

As Ram has stated, to change out one is probably going to be a simple solution to start with.
Even compare the 2 banks to see if there is discolouration differences.
Or swap the 2 from left to right to see if the problem follows the sensor or its something else on the same side.

You should also test the resistance in it too with a multi meter.

Important to understand that when a code is generated for a sensor, it is not telling you the sensor is bad. It is often telling you the sensor is doing its job and detecting what it’s designed for.

I have the details on which pins to test somewhere...
