    Hi,
I have a problem that I can't seem to rectify, just putting it out there to see if anyone else has experienced a similar problem.
On occasion, at random the car just wont kick over and has to be jump started. This has been happening for the last 6 months. Battery is brand new, and is charging with no problem, I have had it in to an auto elec's 3 times with no success.
If anyone has any ideas on the subject I would be grateful
    Cheers

Hi,this sounds like a similar issue I had with my car and what I did was like you jump start (bought a jump starter, very handy when owning any car.)All my problem was the battery.
Very annoying and always at the wrong time.
The only thing I can think of is battery?
Something could be left on and draining?
Have you put a code reader on the car?
    Might come up with something.
    All leads clean and tight?
Try the engineering mode on charging and see what it says.
    Good Luck.

    Thanks,
The battery is good, today I had literally just come from having it tested when it happened again. No codes. Recently had the software updated also.

How many cca's (cold cranking amps) is it?
One of the other members had a problem with his battery. He bought it new, but was only 460 cca. Car required 750 cca to be normal. Replaced with a 750 cca and no more problems.
I don't know if the other persons car was vf or ve. Maybe this will help you?

    Thanks
    Yes I currently have a 750cca battery installed which I replaced from a 660cca.

I have had the firewall connections checked and are ok. I will check out the relay thing and the wiring to the starter motor.
    cheers

Similar problem on WM Caprice V8 6 speed auto. It acted like starter would not kick in/turn over randomly. thought is was battery, starter or connections. Turned out to be neutral/safety start solenoid in trans, once replace never had problems since. Been nearly 12 months now.

I would never have thought about something like that. How did you test it? or did you just have it replaced?

Mechanic picked it up using Tech 2 scan after car was serviced which showed failing trans neutral start safety solenoid located inside the transmission. Cost me $600 for auto trans techs to do the job. Left it with them for a day.
