Its that time again, when i'm sick of optus having dropouts every 10 minutes, and now the phone starting to dropout aswell. What companies do you guys recommend. Keeping in mind i don't have a credit card, so direct deposit needs to be avaliable.
I'm stuck on dialup, so I'm not sure whats good for broadband, though I've heard very good things about Internode and iiNet. I use Dodo Dialup myself, and find it to be quite good for dialup, though I've heard a lot of bad things about their broadband. Just whatever you do, stay the fark away from Smellstra SmallPuddle (Telstra BigPond).
Im with ComCen - ISP - Australia - Sydney Melbourne Brisbane Adelaide Perth Canberra Newcastle never had any issue with them at all great speeds and good prices
Stay away from soul. They stuffed me round big time, their service is crap and atleast once a week the net would be out for an hour or so for no good reason. I hope optus is ok for me i just swapped to them on one of those fusion plans, so i got adsl2+ now. Have you checked out broadbandguide.com.au and whirlpool.com.au for different plans. There are forums there on those sites you can read up on too.
Ive finished my 2nd 24 month contract with bigpond and i have found they are really good. the first 24 months i was on bigpond cable. then moved up to cable extreme. lately i have been looking for another provider with more than 20gig downloads for a cheaper price and matched speed. i was thinking about going on the optus one that is 100 dollars and you get the home phone also. ill keep an eye on this thread
Interesting people recommend iiNet, I've been with westnet for years, expensive but quality service, they have recently teamed up with iiNet and the service is terrible, and customer service went out the door. TPG (partner of soul i believe) offer ADSL+ with 150gb for like 79 bux, which is well worth it if you download and can get it... BUT they wont match that price with their adsl one plan(slower plan same downloads + price), but im going to try again Stay away from Telstra, especially in rural areas, everyone i know has had nothing but trouble.
Ive been with internode for about 3 years now. Only outage I have had is when our power goes out Customer service is non existant, in 3 years I have never spoken to someone from there, havent needed to. Now run a naked dsl2 connection which is bloody fantastic.
Thats the one i got and so far its good, free calls are great too, as it extends to virgin mobiles too and all land lines + 13 numbers, im lovin it.
I have been with internode for the best part of 6 years and highly recommend them. We have them at work too and pay them via bpay. Reaper
You won't find anyone to match BP Cable for speed. Most carriers have more allowances for lower prices, but you will have sacrifice the speed. If you're in the right area for ADSL2+ then you'll come close, otherwise you take what you can get.
Been with Internode for almost 6 years and was one of the first exchanges to be ADSL2+ enabled. Service has been second to none. Price is a tad higher than most, but the reliability more than outweighs it
I regularly max out 20, so 12 wont cut it nicko. Seems internode are the go. Will give them a call tomorrow. Do they do a home phone aswell? Planning to get as far away from optus/telstra as possible.
Node are doing naked plans now as well, jump on Whirlpool Broadband News and read up on some of the feedback.
+1 for Internode. Parents have been using them for about a year and have never had an issue with their connection. I myself use aanet. Not a large company like node, helstra ect ect, but there very reliable, and highly regarded on whirlpool. I was tossing up whether to go with internode or aanet when I first got ADSL, it basically came down to: Internode: Better phone support, more payment options, more expensive plans, more "free" services that I never have and never will use eg game servers, internet radio streams. Aanet: Phone support from 9-5 monday to friday only, fewer payment options, more quota for $$$, off peak downloading, no "free" extra services. In the end I went with aanet. I couldn't justify paying for services that I will never use, I would rather have a higher quota plan than pay for streaming internet radio, game servers ect ect. But hey, no disrespect to node, they have been great for my parents, and I highly recommend them. But for my needs, I couldn't justify them. Maybe you should list your needs and then the poster might be able to make a better recommendation for ya. Also you should get onto whirlpool (http://www.whirlpool.net.au) and check out other companies using the "broadband search" function.
Yeah i've been having a look around whirlpool. Funny considering the amount of complaints for Optus and Telstra..... Rang Soul or TPG, and the indian girl tried telling me she couldn't provide me with a service because optus own the phone lines. I told her about 15 times, no, Telstra own the copper, and optus subcontract it out. On the phone to another company, i reasile what her mistake was, my number is owned by optus, not that it should've made a difference, i wasn't going to keep the number. Was funny when she said i have to get telstra to instal a a 2nd phone line.....(meaning phone number).
