    Hey all,

Easy question for someone that knows. My aircon was working great one day and then stopped working at all the next. Holden replaced the compressor pump under warranty as it was apparently faulty. Since getting it back however the aircon just barely works. On a hot day it will JUST get me by but holding my hand in front of a vent you can tell there is barely any "chill" behind it.

From what I've been told I need to re-gas my aircon. I have also been told that while replacing the compressor pump Holden would have had to have re-gassed as well. If that's the case I will take it back to them and tell them to fix it. However if that is incorrect and they in fact didn't need to re-gas while replacing the pump and I take it back to them they will just tell me aircon gas is a consumable and therefore not covered by warranty. Just trying to get my ducks in a row here.

    Thanks.

take it back, as long as it only started doing this after they fixed it. just call up the dealer and say that it hasn't been cold since your warranty and ask if they could do it, shouldn't be a problem but i wouldn't be accepting paying for it.

If they had to replace the pump then a regas is needed as they had to remove the gas to change the pump take it back

Sometimes they will just evacuate the gas and put it back, no more than what was already in there. If it wasn't enough, they should have told you that you needed a proper regas.

You rarely recover into an empty bottle and most dealerships have machines that recycle the gas so simply putting back what you took out wouldn't happen. Warranty means Holden covers the cost of the gas so there's no reason for them to not charge with the full amount.

Was it cold when you first got the car back?

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I'll be calling them today.

Ricey, no it wasn't cold at all when I got it back. On a hot day it's JUST nicer than having only the fan on and has been like that since the moment I got it back.

Honestly the place I'm having to take the car for warranty work is beyond useless. The three times I've been in have been complete cluster ####s and whenever I'm in there I always end up having to wait 30mins to talk to someone coz the guy in front of me is furious about something, I'm pissed off about something and the guys behind me are pissed about something. They really are useless. And the most annoying part is I can't actually talk to the people that work on my car. Last time I asked to communicate with the mechanic they told me "no sorry, we don't do that here, you need to tell the secretary that has never seen an engine bay before and she will pass on the message to the mechanic". Infuriating.
