E85 is awesome in my Redline. Yeah, it chews it. But, it makes more grunt and runs sweet. Smells good too.
LS3, E85, VVT and a blower in a VF. I bet old Pir4te would have a field day with that ;)
Agree with you. But there is only one place to buy it on Sydney Northern Beaches. And that is hard to access at all times of day.

If the price per litre was substantially lower than 91 it would be a winner! Dunno why it is priced so close to standard fuel
Because making ethanol is no cheaper than making purely oil-based petrol?

Well yeah e10 anyway. Although id hazard a guess that if the sales volumes of ethanol were anywhere near fossil fuels, the unit rate would be far lower.

I don't know what prices you pay for E85 over east, but here in Perth, today's metro averages as follows:

Product Metro Average

ULP 129.6

PULP 142.9

98 RON 149.5

E85 184.8

Bearing in mind that Monday is the cheapest day here in the fuel cycle and everything kicks up to its highest price on Tuesday and starts a gradual decline to the next Monday.

Nonetheless, E85 is by far the most expensive option which is not widely available (only sold by 9 sites in the state, with two of those being regional). Given the motor uses more of it, the costs don't stack up.

BTW, no E10 sold in WA.

Wow that's extortionate! Again, the price paid due to low volume sales. It's about $0.30 - $0.35 cheaper than 98 in Wagga Wagga NSW.

Nup - should be cheaper. Marketing and political forces at play here. And it's only 10% of total.

NSW average atm E85 $1.388, E10 $1.188, ULP91 $1.255, P95 $1.374, P98 $1.429. My choice is P95 for street use.

Indeed; we get our fossil-fuel stuff kinda artificially cheap, and we don’t use that much ethanol.

I wanted to try E85 in the Redline to see if it felt any different, but I’ve never been in a servo that sells the stuff. All the places anywhere near me have either closed down or stopped selling it due to lack of sales.

Isn’t the price reduction for E85 vs 98 just a reduction in excise?

Indeed.

If it was at your prices, I would be running it.

I run E85 now and again and the price hasn't fluctuated more than 5 cents for probably a year. $1.44-$1.49, SE Qld.
