Hey, normally my car starts straight away but this morning when i went off to work it took about 10 seconds to start then about 2 hours later i had to move it to a different park and i couldnt get it to start for about 1 minute, there has been about 2 other times where it took maybe 3 seconds or so to start as well im not sure when the battery was last changed as i have only had the car for a bit over a month, but it does still have the acdelco one in there, i dont know if its the original and has lasted the 9 years (167000 k's) or not, also when buying a new battery would i be stupid going to holden to buy another acdelco battery or is any heavy duty battery exactly the same?
    cheers

If your car turn's over then the battrey is ok, If it just makes like a clicking sound and doesent turn over then the battrey is bad.
Or if the starter motor is turning over extreamly slow the batt is bad.

If it wont hold a charge the batt is bad.
Most battrey stores will test it for you for free.

No point going to holden for a battrey, you will just get ripped off, I have a SSB manance free battrey atm and i find it great! $118rrp 600cca.
Any decent battrey will do fine, just dont go for a chepie like supercheap sells, they only last a few month's.

In my opinion i wouldent recommend century battreys, In my experiance and as far as i have seen they are crap.

I really doubt it is the original battery.
Tell us more about what is happening because we can't tell from what you have written.
Which of the symptoms that vx_commodore has described is it displaying.

Yes it was still making the noise it normally makes when you start it and there was no clicking sound, so does this mean its not the battery, im not sure if the battery is bad or not but when i bought the car i did have to clean off a bit of corrosion, so could it be old?

I doesn't sound like the battery and the fact that there is corrosion (I assume you mean on the terminals) doesn't mean the battery is old. Pour some boiling water on the terminals and that will dissolve that build up.
So you say it turns over like usual but won't start?

Yes the corrosion was on the terminals and i had already cleaned it off easily with a wire brush and boiling water, yes it was sounding the same as usual but was not starting, took about a minute to start but on the way back home it started straight away and i tried it just before again and it started straight away, so im not sure what caused it?

Went to battery world and got my battery tested, the guy said it had low cca or something and i should get a new one, from what he could see he thinks it was put in 2005, not sure if this was my problem or not but yeah

If it was put in in 2005 I would definitely get a new one. It is 6 years old and they only usually last about 5 years.

Sounds like your car's trying to tell you something...
    "Help... I need a.... service...

Seriously though it would probably solve you problem if it hasn't been done for a while.

I ended up getting a needing battery yesterday too, mine was only a bit over two years old and it wasn't cheap, $150. Luckily it had a 3 year warranty so the replacement cost nothing.
