VE V Calais
Hi guys,

I own a 2006 VE Calais-V sedan in black.

Over the weekend, my car was badly vandalised. Damage included:

- Smashed rear windscreen (several rocks thrown through)
- chipped rear driver window (they've tried to smash it)
- moderately dented/deep scratch above the rear driver window (as if they've shoved a screwdriver between the panel and the window to try and pry it open)
- DEEP (to the metal) scratches (approx 10cm in length) on the boot, roof, bonnet, and a couple doors
- further scratches (mainly one continuous scratch along the entire exterior of the car) and on the sunroof
- small dents on the sunroof, roof, driver side door and bonnet where it looks like rocks have been thrown onto it)

My car is insured for $22,500 (agreed) through RACV.

What is everyone's opinion on how much this will cost to repair/whether my car will be a write-off?

I've heard some people say that if "every panel is scratched it's a write off" and others say similar thing about hail damage but my car is obviously still worth a fair bit so hoping it can be repaired...

Any advice from experienced people would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks guys

Will likely be repaired with that value of insurance. Depending on the damage level which is impossible to determine without pictures.

Pics attached. I'm not including a photo of the driver's side scratches because it's derogatory/abusive language.

That does look pretty bad.

Did you piss someone off? They have really gone to town on your car.

Not anyone specifically and not to any extent that I deserved something like that. It's to do with what I do for work (which has to do with what was scratched on the drivers side), what's worse is that it happened out the front of my family home..which has left the family terrified....no money value on that.

I just have no idea how much the repair would be...It's also got the high quality metallic paint (which i think the calais' have as standard but that makes all the paintwork more expensive right?)

Might add that the boot has scratches but the other stuff on their (which appears like white dots) is just glass, not dents.

Any panel beaters/professionals around that can comment?

No mechanical damage, no structural damage. I doubt it'll be a write off. Look at the up side, at least you get a full respect! Maybe you can sweet talk the repairer and get them to put in some more metallic flake.
