Are you using a spark plug socket ?
I use my 3/8 set that has a few different extension pieces.
Headers or stock exhaust manifolds ?

Short extension bar is needed, but only about 2.5 inches long. I bought a set of three off eBay pretty cheap.

Decent socket set should do it. You might need the uni joint to get past any obstacles.

Uni joint might work but you can't get it without some sort of short ext bar. Your regular 5 inch extension is too long.

Yeah I just meant some combination of goodies from a socket set should be all you need. Been a long time since I had an Ecotec, and I assume the Buick is much the same.

I use a 1/2" ratchet with a uni-joint and spark plug socket. Use the ratchet to loosen the spark plug, then pull out the ratchet and use your hand to turn the uni-joint to get it out.

My half inch ratchet doesn't fit in real well. I use a 3/8 with the really short bar. But yeah like Immortality once it's fairly loose your fingers can get it the rest of the way. The uni joint would be about the same length as my short bar.
