In our town premium petrol prices are as follows 12/6/18 ( rounded off to the nearest $ for simplicity ) :-
Shell E98.....…$180.
Woolworths E95....$168.
Mobil ( aka. Exon, Esso, 7-UP ) a new service station started up here on the Queen's birthday weekend.
Supreme E98….$1.58.
How do I know that it is Supreme E98 that I am getting and not E10....as a lot of these service stations have been mixing and matching of late and adding other so called ingredients and they are not tested by the authorities any more.
I know that this a gimmick for a new service station to suck you in....I wonder will the difference still apply when petrol returns to normal!

Yeah $1.71 here for WW 95. $159 for unleaded. Not many places sell 98 in Launceston but those that do would be asking $1.85. We have price changes in Launceston but it only goes in one direction and that is up.... Dare say by the end of the year we could be looking at $1.85 for WW 95... I don't bother with Coles anymore because their 95 is 5-6c a litre dearer than WW and we rarely get enough groceries from there to get the 4 off docket deal...

No Mobil in Tas we have BP, Coles, Caltex, United and Bennets. We have two prices in fuel, expensive and ridiculously expensive.

The one thing you need to be careful of is the disparity between unleaded and 98. In the case of BP, some stations publish a cheap unleaded price on their boards but fund this by raising their Ultimate 98 price by the same amount. Need to always check the 98 price before you fill up.

Coles do that. Coles are 5-6c a litre dearer on 95 than WW/Caltex. In Launceston WW and Coles don't sell 98.

The difference in price between unleaded and PULP used to be about 6 to 8 cpl. Now it's 20 cents everywhere. Probably because so many cars require premium these days, so the oil companies see yet another way to screw motorists.

And through this just passed price hike of up to 12c/l more than usual, E85 has remained a constant $1.44. Still to much but nice to know that it hasn't fluctuated in probably 2 years.

I like it when the petrol prices go up. Less traffic as the poor people are not driving as much. Should increase it to over $2/ltr
