i'm getting an engine crane and ramps for xmas, figured i'd do the list of stuff that's been piling up in my engine for a while, just wanted to know if the stuff is doable by a relative noob.

    here goes

    • side and rear welch plugs and the ones behind the flex plate
    • sump gasket cos mines just putty at the bottom of the timing cover atm
    • maybe rear main while i'm at it.
    • might check on the intake manifold gasket at the back of the engine while it's out.
    • change box oil, maybe diff oil too.

[easy] side and rear welch plugs and the ones behind the flex plate
[easy] sump gasket cos mines just putty at the bottom of the timing cover atm
[only if you need it, not so easy] maybe rear main while i'm at it.
[easy] might check on the intake manifold gasket at the back of the engine while it's out.
[easy] change box oil, maybe diff oil too.

rear main I think is easier on the S2 motors though.

Yep all doable rear main you really have to take crank out to do it properly but you can do it dodgey and pick the old one out buy the rubber/neoprene ones then knock it in evenly and gently till about halfway. It's gotta be sqaure otherwise itll leak.
The welsch plugs in the back of the block and middle Dont worry about changing unless you already bought the plugs (49mm and 40mm i think) they only seal off the back of the cam tunnel and balance shaft these wont corroded and i'd doubt they'd ever leak
