Fit the standard 195°F thermostat?

My experience is that just under a 1/4 is normally about right with a 180°F thermostat.

If it is a 82°C/180°F thermostat then it sounds about right.

Get into a bit of traffic on a hot day and it will get a bit hotter.

Yeah with new and old thermostat when idling with air-conditioning off it goes to just over half way and fans come on and goes back down

My mum's Ecotec Commodore had the wrong sender fitted (from a VR or something like that) which caused guage to show too low.

Yep sounds normal if cooling system is properly bled & working properly.

My vp when it was v6 sat just below that mark driving around & only went above it if sitting in traffic for ages...think fans came on at 3/4 mark or so.
