I took my ute to a workshop to replace a muffler, and they said I have a non-standard exhaust, and they cannot find anything in any catalogue to match it. They took photos while inspecting it.
I found the receipt from the last place that replaced the exhaust. It just said
VS wagon mid section
VS ute rear section
And the place that did it before has changed hands, they don't do exhaust anymore, just brakes and tuneups.

I'll look up the part numbers in my Walker Exhaust book in the morning and post up the results for you.

Are we assuming that this is for an Ecotec ?

Not sure, the rear pipe/s are longer on a Ute I believe.

I was told ute, wagon & statesman all have the same chassis, as in long wheel base. So, l imagine exhaust would be the same except for in the case of different motors. Example ute has a v6, statesman has a v8. Different diameters.

Hi All,

Confirmation that the Ute (commercial) and Wagon run identically the same exhaust in 6 Cylinder variants.
Statesman is different as it has IRS while utes and wagons are all Live axle equipped.

Part numbers for this exhaust are as follows,
Intermediate section AL4-5476
Rear section AL3-4091

These parts use the flange join between the two sections on the up stroke going over the diff while the IRS systems run a sleeve fit system

I fitted a Redback Cat back from eBay and it was easy as. Some brands of exhaust are different, same shape but won't bolt up to a different brand, due to the way the tail section fits to the the muffler pipe. You may need a whole Cat back.

Hi All,

These parts use the flange join between the two sections above the diff while the IRS systems run a sleeve fit system
On mine, the flange join is not above the axle, but rather just behind the centre muffler/resonator. I guess it was a "brand X" who no longer make parts for 20th century clunkers. Looks like I will have to replace the lot.

Hi Jeepster,

I've just corrected my line that you've quoted and clarified that the flange is on the up stroke section just before the high point that goes over the diff.

Cheers.
