A little more info on what exact car your driving might help. But at a guess i'll say you have a faulty TPS (throttle positioning sensor).

my Statesman gives off a audible knock from the front driver's side when engaging and disengaging cruise control. apparently it's caused by a lack of clearance between the cruise module and the plate it's mounted on.

I get a sort of crunching noise when first taking off in the car or when traction control kicks in. It comes from the left side of the car. I always thought this was the cruise control??

I don't think a crunching sound is normal. I just get the knock from the cruise module.

I find that too on my Vy Calais bought earlier this week but I find it very heavy at parking speeds mostly. Never had it in the VTII

Leaves stuck in the plenum chamber under front screen used to be notorious for this.

I agree on this issue, parking speeds are the worst, I think I need to flush and give some TLC to my P/S

yep, regas mate. I'd recommend getting the dye added as well as they usually guarantee it for a year in case it leaks.
I had the same thing happen and it turned out to be the O-rings where the pipe enters the compressor.

    Hi guys

is the ashtray supposed to close fully on a VY clubby SII? It doesn't feel broken but it sits open. I've seen the hinges have issues but not sure if that's it.

Hows it, i am in the process of putting a 6-71 Blower on my 2003 SV8 Holden, dont think anyone else in NZ has done this yet but im hoping someone out there has so i can get some info on what i need to do so i dont waste $ on buying gear i dont need, Pretty much got manifold and blower sorted but really need to know what fuel injection set up to run and does the factory SV8 Holden fuel pump deliver enough fuel. Any information and help would be awesome.

Hi All. Have just trolled through the 54 pages and didn't see the solution to the exact problems I'm experiencing. Apologies if these problems have already been answered and I missed them.
    1. A buzzing noise and vibration for one second or less when gently accelerating from stationary after the car has been started. Can not be duplicated unless engine is stopped and restarted. Can be duplicated every-time engine is stopped and re-started.
    2. Hand brake needs to be adjusted frequently. Vehicle is a VY series II with build date of Sep03. Adjustment does not last to next service. Have seen this problem mentioned a few times in the forum, but have not seen a resolution. Does the upgraded Holden handbrake kit overcome this problem, or only eliminate the scraping sound of handbrake pads rubbing on drums?
    3. A knocking noise from rear passenger side of vehicle when travelling over small irregularities on road. Noise is evident when passenger wheels are travelling over irregularities (small bumps or potholes) but not present when drivers wheels are driven over same irregularities. Have had a friend drive vehicle while I was in boot (family has a small farm with private road) and noise seems to be loudest just behind rear passenger side shock absorber tower. Mechanic and I have had vehicle up on the hoist a few times searching for this with no success.
    4. Also had a water leak into drivers side rear floor area, but after reading this forum realise it may be from a slack repair job when a Automotive Glass company replaced the door window and cut the plastic under the door lining to facilitate access instead of peeling the plastic back.
    5. Was having problems with front end slides (understeer) and road noise was a little annoying. Had Toyo Teo's on front and some older but legal Michelin XM1's on rear. Replaced all with Michelin Primacy 3's. Almost like a different vehicle. Sharper handling and breaking. Not one front end slide in last 4,000km, wet or dry. Quieter. Very happy with the investment.
    6. Holden Network Q records do not show any major work up until I purchased vehicle at 103,000. Vehicle has now travelled 129,00km. Other than replacing all fluids and filters when purchased I have only had to do services as required, replace tyres, rear shocks, front sway bar rubber and link pin rubber.
Great Forum all ! Really appreciate the great info.

^^ No. 1 is normal. Something to do with the ABS module.

Thanks for the reply. Information appears correct. Removed ABS fuse and did some test runs. Buzzing and vibration not evident while fuse removed, and re-appeared when fuse replaced. Cheers.

Sometimes just disconnecting the battery or pulling out the fuse for the head unit, then replacing, will reset the unit and fix the problem.
