My vy II s is two years old this month, it has 95,000kms on the clock, this morning it come up with ABS Fault warning, has anyone experienced the same, id say it'd be a warrenty issue but ive only got 5,000kms til that runs out.. i havent had any other problems except for the gf burning the clutch...
warranty Running out??? Holden's New Car warranty is 175,000/3 year isn't it???? That's what I'm counting on anyway... Well, my girl is going in for first tune/service/check since buying tomorrow, have a list of 18 things to get fixed, tightened, looked at (see below) Things Need to Be Done on Car Glove Box fixed so light not permanently on Rear driver’s side above door handle tightened – driver’s side same – stays down – springs on all of them not working as should. Replace cracked rubber on passenger side door Handbrake to be tightened Tune Fluid check and change Battery in key – doesn’t respond until very close to car - replace Patching paint chips on door edges, scratches around fuel filler, two patches on bonnet Wheel rub / excessive noise at low speeds? Reverse light fixed/Brake light? One of these is broken Light in boot, not always working – wiring problem? Tighten driver’s footrest, is loose Tighten gear knob, having to re-tighten ever couple of days at the moment… Gearbox intermittent change from 65-80k/p/h – Surging?... Brakes? Ok? Very strong “heat” smell on stop. Coming from Rear wheels it seems On cold start, big ticking from engine – dissipates after about 10 seconds. Very noticeable, reminiscent of low oil/out of tune older commodore, oil checked, levels fine… please explain? General engine noise – constant lifter (I think) noise Battery? Power used by head deck, flickering head unit when lights on, indicating, braking etc. Alternator charge ok? if ok, will be getting bigger battery. Deep cycle? ** Question about modifications that are allowed whilst still keeping holden Warranty.** fingers crossed for none of the usual holden stuff ups...
The warrantee depends on how you bought the car. New car is 100,000/3 year, Holden approved 2nd hand car = 175,000/5 year. The ticking sound you are hearing is probably the injectors which is normal. Reaper
Anyone else had problems with windows washer. today I used it for the first time since I got the car a week ago, it would go for a few seconds and stop, when the wipers were on high speed it would not go at all (is this normal). I could intermittantly get the washer to work when it was in the slow position only. warranty issue????? It is not a blocked tube or washer head. Seems like an electrical fault with the switch.
My car is covered by the new car warrenty for another 5k, then the certified warrenty kicks in, but ive been burned by a dealer before so i want to get it looked at b4 it reaches 100k, i prolly got a month to two months,
I got my central locking replaced yesterday (rear passenger side). That makes both rear doors have new locks lol and i have no problems with them for now. Around the 40-70km/h range i sometimes here a squeaking coming from the drivers or passengers side (alternates). Not turnign or anything just cruising, anyone got ideas?
My car is a VY s2 Berlina v6. Anyway i was driving around a corner yesterday and the motor suddenly died, its the first time this has happened. Any idea what might have caused it?
I have a slight ticking from engine in my VYII SS that comes on while the engine is cold at start, and also occurs randomly when stopped, though its not always there. Hoping that its just injectors as you say, is this common with the GEN3?
Virtually all multi point fuel injected cars can do it. Some are worse than others. My friend's VP was very loud but he fixed that. My car does it when it's cold but it dissapears quickly. I am talking about a ticking sound here. knocking or other sounds are often caused by lack of oil or pressure which need immediate attention (ie shut the engine down now!) Reaper
nah, its nit a knock per se, its more of a tsic tsic tsic sound going to holden tomorrow to see what they reckon
I know the VZ has a major problem with the inacurate fuel guage, does the VY aswell, yesterday i was watching the Distance 2 Empty, it went from 300km left to 310, to 320, then to 420kms left then to 530kms left all in the space of about 25kms... I was reading some elses post and they said "it's more like a fuel indicator than a fuel guage, Yeah i thinks there is some petrol in there" is there an upgrade for the software and is it covered by warrenty
Distance to Go Detail. It is not unusual for the Distance to Go (DTG) to vary, even markedly. It works off the fuel tank quantity and the average fuel consumption over a recent period. Thus you can do a day or two of peak hour commuting with high fuel consumption, then you head off on a highway (with dramatically better consumption) and the DTG will start to increase. On the other hand, you can be driving on the highway and assess that you have enough fuel to get home. However, if the last part of the trip is in heavy traffic, the DTG will start to reduce much faster than the actual Kms. The fuel guage problems relate to the fuel guage indications, i.e. showing full when it is not, empty when it is not, running out when it still shows 1/4 tank, etc. If you are concerned with your fuel guage, monitor it rather than the DTG.
I think mine has the same issue... Back at holden for second time this fortnight... another bunch of warranty items... great tech pointed out heaps more stuff i didn't know about... rocking seat (electric) getting replaced, bubbled taillights, cracked door rubbers, worn power steering hose, loose gearknob, etc etc etc. and also on the joblist is "re-calibre fuel sensor"...
my Honda legend does that aswell changes with the current consumption, but my fuel gauge was moving in sync with the D2G, it was in traffic aswell not heavy traffic. oh well, back to the drawing board.
On the 14 Nov I am getting my motor rebuilt under warranty, the ol dreaded piston slap thing in the Gen 3, as well as my seat retrimmed, some stitching coming loose. There is a list..... a fairly long list I have had repaired so far. I will keep an eye on the rear door seals though as not long after I bought it it had the rear foot well full of water.
Same issue here, (squeaking when the engine is cold) its only the first start in the morning and usually stops before Im down the end of the road.
I took my car back a few weeks about the squeaking whilst the engine was cold, that turned out to be the supercharger belt, they replaced it with an 'improved' design but it's started doing it again so I guess I'll be taking another trip back and see what they say this time round.
Volume control on steering wheel only wants to go up.Not much else but I only have 14000 on the clock
The guys with the squeaky super 6's get ya dealer to check the alignment of the pullies..major issue with the first gen3's, would squeak on cold, the pullies were out of alignment. See how that goes.
