it this a 6 cyl tach

hey guys i have 2 pics of these gm tachos ones from a V8 sle and im pretty sure the other is a 6 cylnder one but if u dont notice the V8 one has x1000 rpm n the other is x100 rpm can someone explain about the x100 i thort the 6 cyls were x1000

Thats got nothing to do whether its a 6 or not? they are the same values in the end, e.g, 4 x 1000 = 4000rpm and 40 x 100 = 4000rpm

I'm pretty sure that the tacho was only fitted to the V8's. The difference in those is the redline, maybe different variants of the V8's of the vehicles that those tachos came out in.

dude the x100 x1000 thing is the same cos one says eg: 20 as 2 grand and one said 2 and 2 grand
same same but different

im pretty sure some came out the tachos, i think the reading comes from the - on the coil
could you hook it up nad see if it reads correct,

do you have the part number? Certain option packs did permit the 6cyl motor with a tacho.

Didn't think there was such a thing as a 6 cyl SL/E, thought that one was an SL/X. But I could be wrong.

I wish that was the case! Sadly they released them with 6 packs also, same as VK & VL Calais.

AFAIK the V8s were redlined at 5000 and 6's at 5500. so on that basis i would say its a six.

could you hook it up nad see if it reads correct,

iv hooked it up it works fine its a brand new guage but i dno if it reads correctly im not sure how to find out if it reads properly
