Hey guys

I need a jack and jack stands so i was just wondering where I can get a decent set. I have bought the super cheap auto brand (sca) jack and jack stands before but I didn't like the jack at all as when I tried to lower the front of the car it would violently drop instead of slowly lowering the car.

Spend a bit of money for piece of mind and quality.
Stay away from the cheap crap.
Any jack will drop quickly if you open the release valve too fast.
Some are more sensitive than others.

I think my Powerbuilt trolley jack is mint and will recommend to others!

keep in mind the height range you will require when getting axle stands though.

few months ago. I think there on special
again, now in the current catalogue.

We use blue point jacks and work. Really good quality stuff. Pricy though

I've got cheap kincrome stands, lock in well and pretty sturdy, as for a jack doesn't really matter too much brand wise just check the width of it - the Skinny ones are fine on a nice smooth slab but normally have a tendancy to tip on uneven surfaces. they also have a pretty small cup on the top of it which can slip if greasy - pretty pointless unless your only using the cars jacking points and not using it on the diff, etc. If possible the better ones are those that have the release valve built into the handle, gives you much better control over it... I think mine is a tradequip or something like that - cheap but as long as you wipe over the ram every once in a while the seals seem to last pretty well!

Edit: it also has a nice low and wide cup that can pop out to use tranny adapters etc.
