ur better off lookin at getting a 1400 to 1650 kilo trolley jack, much safer and will usually fit under ur car wen u have a flatty unlike the bottle jack

You can get a battery powered scissor jack that plugs into the cigarette lighter for on the road for about 100bills off ebay but for home use, nothing beats investing in a proper mechanics trolley jack for around $250 from most parts shops or tool shops.
MAybe even cheaper second hand.

A mate got a 2.3 ton one from repco with a lift height of something ridiculous like 600-800m

600-800m? That is pretty ridiculous. :p

I have a 2T trolley jack for my ute, sits perfectly under the passenger seat or in my tool box. Autobahn, $79.

Those are great prices if they are easily handling the job.

FWIW buy some axle stands too, do NOT work under a car relying on the jack to support it.

Put a block of wood under it for the back end. How often are you jacking your car up??? The others are onto it regarding cheapo trolley jack. You can get a small one from Mitre10/Supercheap and carry it in the boot. They do need axle stands though if you are working under them as already said as they do tend to creep/drop.
