Jacking the car using the diff.... yes or no?

The manual doesn't say you can but have read a lot of people do it?

It would make life easier.

I have a garage sized trolley jack,ive jacked the rear up using the diff plenty of times,most times it sits on the diff housing and the cradle.Mine is a wagon.

I have a large shop jack and i use the diff with a rubber pad on the jack.
I have done it for many moons and never had a problem.

I've always jacked up the rear of my VS/VT/VX/VF cars using the diff without problems.

With a proper hydraulic jack yes, with the standard scissor jack in the boot no.

Be suing the warrant of fitness place if jacking the car up by the diff does cause problems, as the inspectors only jack up by the diff..........
