Kind-of depends on which Jaycar speakers you go for. They have two different ranges of the Response speakers. I'm not certain which ones you're referring to here - can you post the catalog number? (although you're saying something about 40 bucks, so I would assume you're talking about the low end ones... The kevlar 2 ways are about $100)

The lower priced ones are very average - an improvement over stock, but not by much. The higher end ones (they usually have kevlar cones and titanium dome tweeters) are much better quality, and are up there with the best value for mony around. Sure there are PLENTY of speakers which will out perform them, but you have to part with a lot more bread to get your hands on those. The downside of the kevlar jobs are that they do require a bit of drive power to get the best from them, although they still work very well driven straight from the HU.

Another point to bear in mind is that the kevlar units are in fact 6.5" diameter, and won't drop straight into 6" cutouts - you might need to do a little work to make them fit properly. I would consider it worthwhile though.

    Hope that helps, cheerz.
