I dont think the Labor figureheads have any illusions about winning the next election. At this point they will be trying to soften the blow and keep as many seats as they can.
Peter Costello, March 2007. Labor plans Future Fund withdrawal as it takes aim at budget surplus | The Australian ALP 2011. Wont be much of this money left if how the union reps spend money is any indication.
Anne Jolis: The Other Climate Theory - WSJ.com Wasn't "the science settled"? Better not let Gillard see this report or she will be claiming this is caused by mans carbon dioxide also.
Media inquiry to look at ownership, privacy | Herald Sun No comment for fear of having an inquiry into my comments.
Opposition Leader Tony Abbott said: "I just think there is no need for a media inquiry." Obviously his phone didn’t get tapped..... ;-)
i think the carbon tax is a good idea. we've already established, with GST, that a new tax doesn't mean more tax. it's just a different way of collecting it. charging tax by energy consumption is sound policy - even if it turned out that climate change wasn't happening, which seems unlikely, we are undeniably consuming the world's energy resources at a grossly disproportional rate. the irony is, tax or no tax, our over-consumption will cause huge energy price rises anyway - i've got bad news for people who oppose it on the basis that petrol/electricity etc. costs too much - the carbon tax is the least of their worries. the opposition is based on very simplistic and short sighted logic.
Well, we already know you oppose about 90% of this forum with your views, but the actual tax was not my point. It was the fact that the government believes its fortunes will improve by introducing the tax. That's weird.
The difference of course is that the GST replaced other taxes, sales taxes and such, this doesn't replace any tax, it is an extra tax. This means that we will be paying more tax.
To add on to this, 10% of all revenue raised from this life tax is sent to the UN. I would happily pay a carbon tax if the government introduced nuclear power. Renewable power will never work, not only is it Labor over intensive it's bang per dollar is a joke.
Nah, I really think the media is beyond reproach. I agree with His Excellency. There is no need to keep an eye on them at all.
Isn't this already done? If people suspect anything they take evidence to police and a matter is investigated. Although there seems to be a blind eye turned to unions committing mass fraud and ripping off its members.
No, the GST meant more tax. In that case let the market sort things out? that much at least is true. lol!
Isn’t this what this is? Isn’t this already done? If people suspect anything they take evidence to police and a matter is investigated Union boss Michael Williamson says he is looking forward to clearing his name, after NSW police launched an investigation into alleged corruption at the Health Services Union (HSU). NSW police have dropped their investigation into allegations that federal Labor MP Craig Thomson misused a union credit card. In a statement released overnight, police said an assessment by the fraud squad had found no evidence of any offence under NSW law. Despite that - Shadow treasurer Joe Hockey said there needed to be a general look at the handling of union member funds. “This is going to have a pretty profound impact on the union movement, more generally,” personal agenda much!
I probably have to agree with Crisis here. In it's current state, renewable power has a long way to go in terms of being able to solely support our or any countries energy needs. But it will work in the near future when it's developed into something we yet haven't thought of. I predict the future of energy will be hydrogen/solar based. Hyrdogen energy as a base and solar as the "top up" source. Solar is the logical option, but there are obvious drawbacks such as night time. Anyway, not going to get into another energy thread. I had a ready of this on the way in to work this morning: Make use of this opportunity now to fund our future Interesting and concerning going on what Labor's plances are.
It appears there was no fraud committed in the sense that the NSW Police were satisfied that the person presenting and signing the credit card voucher was the person whom the card was issued to. Weather those funds were permitted to be spent by said person for said hookers is an entirely different matter and jurisdiction as the union is incorporated in Victoria and thus Victorian law applies. I understand there is a separate investigation being held by Vicpol right now. Not to mention ASIC and the ATO having a close look at the whole fiasco with regards to possible FBT and other breaches. Further to that, Thompson claimed it was not him who signed the dockets and the NSW investigation indicates it was him. I'd like to hear his explanation of that. You don't see a problem with union funds being used for prostitutes and escorts??? See if your wife feels the same??? Reaper
