I mean while doing a skid aha, but I don't really try getting into second much

Your probably holding the brake too hard, experiment with it if you hold a skid longer in first, like for a Minute the tyres will be hotter and hold second better.
You should at least get 3rd in your car! Once you get into second You can hook ohs haha
