I'd think it fried the ECU, but like abba said, maybe it killed the fuse

if they were put on back to front on on one car and the right way on the other, I am amazed that there was no fire and brimstone involved. Could have damaged any number of things by reverse voltage.

Check ALL the fuses! check all of them in the engine bay and all of them in the cabin. If any are blown, replace them and pray. If it still doesn't go, theres probably something expensive blown up.

This is why you never connect BOTH leads to the battery.... + goes to red on batt, - goes to any good eath point, brackets, engine blocks, whatever... then you cant **** it up!

    aZk.

Well There Was A Crap Load Of Smoke! From Burnt Coating On The Leads. Will Check All Fuses! Had A Look In The Engine Bay And Couldnt See Anything Burnt Or Melted, And No Burnt Smells Coming From Anywhere. So Fingers Crossed! If It Has Fried The Ecu, Wots That Going To Cost Me?

You mean what's it going to cost her!! A S/H ECU is about $150 over here.

actually there is another very good reason for not connecting both leads to the battery!

the last lead you connect will make a spark due to the current surge when the circuit is completed. Car batteries are great at producing hydrogen gas... which happens to be EXPLOSIVE. So when you connect the last lead... which should be negative... you connect it to the chassis or engine rather than the battery so that the spark occurs away from the battery and all its explosive hydrogen

This is one the most stupid thing to do!!!! Why did she get the terminals front to back. The battery could have exploded and injure her or even worst.

Anyway Check Everything Over And The Holden Gods Must Have Been Smiling Down On Her Coz There Was No Damage Afterall. No Blown Fuses Or Relays, No Burnt Anything And The Computer Is Fine. Recharged Her Battery, Put It Back In And The Vp Fired Up! Cheers For The Help All

I would be off to get a new battery. The old lead-acids are tough, they can handle a beating, but that would have definatly damaged the battery internally. If you dont change it, you will probably find it will fail on you soon.
