Hey guys!

Yesterday i just picked up my first commodore and car in general (16 years old)

it was a 2002 VX s2 Executive and I got it for 700$ but ended up paying around 950 after taxes ect (payer her off myself :) )

She does have high kms (270k) and I was wondering what would u guys recommend me servicing/replacing?

I have already ordered:
Sparkplugs + leads
Fuel & oil filter
Front and read break pads

What else do u recommend for me to get so I can run her safely ?
would a valve regrind gasket set be worth it?

Cheers <3

(here she is, ignore the front end damage since I am replacing it)

In the order I would do it

Engine oil flush and filter - HPR10 maybe??? High milage
Brake fluid flush
Air filter element
Coolant flush
Trans fluid and filter
Diff fluid

And lots of cleaning and inspections

Check belts, hoses, tyres, bushings, shocks

Don't waste money though

Nice pick though, I've got a VX series 2 sedan, I like its curves, and it is still fairly simplistic without alot of nannies or electronics to stuff up

Plus parts are still relatively cheap, a bonnet and front bar won't cost to much either, apart from paint if you canot get matched parts

Don't open up the engine unless you really need to though, all the magic can escape from a 240k km engine

Stay safe and enjoy

Get a full under body wash and degrease by a good shop or detailer.
What this will do is blast away all the dirt so you can see where the oil is actually leaking from.

Replace intake manifold gaskets before doing the coolant.
Check engine mounts as it is common for them to sag.
Check Heater tap for leaks next to the exhaust manifold.

No.
Don't bother with the inlet gaskets unless there's an oily residue on the radiator cap.

at that age get the shocks, springs and the rest of the suspension checked, a lot of it will be tired and bordering on unsafe.

you would be wise to make sure the vehicle stops and corners before you try and make it go faster!

My mum had a VX series 2 executive wagon, all you need to do is drive it, those cars can really take any beating.

No need to get carried away, you'll end up spending many times the purchase price on replacing parts that might be fine. Drop it into the local mechanic for a check. They can make a list of any issues and anything that they recommend doing.
