Hi all. I purchased a KAAZ LSD for the old girl and was wondering what diff oil is best for this? I know you can get a KAAZ branded one but are there any other alternatives?

    Cheers.

You really need Kaaz LSD diff oil, even though it's gonna be exi.

Ok I spoke with a guy that supplies kaaz Lsd's and also the oil. He told me that if the diff is used then a good quality mineral diff oil is good enough. He recommended Penrite 80w/90 grade. Apparently this oil also has the lsd additive in it

I believe the Penrite gear says on it if it is for LSD or not, IIRC they have a couple of different ones. Good to know that Kaaz diffs don't need their own additive. Some of the V8 Commodore diffs require a special Holden additive can't remember what year but it was after the VZ pretty sure.

That'd be the zf clutch pack one. I'd be worried the penrite one may have additives in it that does not make it JASO MA approved which mens won't make clutch plates slip.

Everyone used to run car oil in wet clutch bikes til ten-fifteen years ago when all the additives started to make the frictions slip due to slick residuefromr additives. Kaaz diffs work on clutch packs like an auto trans or motorcycle clutch my only worries would be that.

You have to service them every 5ks if you don't want to splash out for the correct oil it's probably the wrong diff to have fitted to your car. A lot lower maintenance centres do the job just as well.

Thanks for info mate. So my understanding is it will be better to use the manufacturers oil. Would that still require regular oil change?

As for the diff being suitable or not. To be honest all I was after was a gear upgrade to 3:46 ratio. While I was searching I came a cross this one KAAZ with 3:46 gears a and the price was too good to say no.

I guess the only way to know is once bolted on and I drive it :)

Yeah still need very regular servicing. Do you know what the locks currently set at ? Any photos with rear off? Not often unless forced induction you'll see gears so low with such an expensive centre. It's a stock manual ratio with an $11-1500 centre.

Well if it means just changing oil every 5-6 thousand kms I can live with that. The car will only travel that barely in a year anyway as it ain't a daily drive.

What I'm getting from what you are telling me is that this particular diff is a bit of an overkill for a stock 304? Also I have no clue as to what it's set at as I'm not that technical with diffs.

    Cheers.

I've had a kaaz in an ex amateur skid car.
Know of another drift car running one and a ten second car that runs one.

They work extremely well but depends on the stack height and the clutch packs used for the amount of lock on Accel and decell.

In my opinion set up properly for track use they're no better then a locker in the friendliness of driving them and the torque lock up. Like full lock low speeds.

If set up for street at 25% lock they drive very nicely but are no more effective then a cheaper Tru track style unit .

Appreciate your info mate. I think I should of done a little more research on the matter. My car is to enjoy on the street for now. I was getting quotes of $1500 just to rebuild my existing lsd and upgrade diff gears. So when I came across this one for much cheaper I purchased it. I'm still curious to bolt it on and see what it's all about. If it's suits I'll keep it. If not I'll just use the diff gears with my existing f
Diff and may sell the kaaz lsd centre.

    Cheers :)

    Cheers.

Can you post a photo with the cover off? If it was cheap doubt it's a real kaaz secondhand LSD is $5-750 usually on its own as they're 11-1500 new pending supplier.

May be interested at buying it if it's cheap enough.

Great price! Shame they reused stock manual gears n didn't throw 3.7's at it.
