Just brought a 91 5lt calais and replaced the trans. It still needs a new kickback cable but the problem is that the motor keeps dieing all the time.Could this be partly due to the faulty cable, motor sounds great and drives well then it just cuts out but can start it again after one or two turns of the key and if you try to accelerate it dies again and this could go on for a while.
    Cheers

that happened to mine recently, turned out to be the DFI module on mine, but it could be one of many things. Fuel pump, iac valve, fuel pressure regulator, ECU, DFI loom, the actual DFI module itself, your coil pack maybe rooted. It's a process of elimination in some cases.

ya can be alot of things as mentioned above also... blocked airfilter , blocked fuel filter , injectors need cleaning , crank angle sensor makes car stall and need to let it cool down before restart ,

best take car to a holden specialist so make a few calls... after 17 years all the electrics **** them selves eventually ...
