Gidday,
After some electrical issues it was recommended I swap out a faulty BCU in my VXII.
So I managed to get a second hand BCM + ECU together with the key fob from an identical car (correct spec on the BCU etc).
My mechanic made the change and swapped out the the faulty BCM + ECU.
Old good. All electrical issues solved.
One issue, the replacement key fob does not work the auto lock / unlock on the doors.
The buttons on the fob are a bit skew wiff and I suspect the fob battery may be flat or some of the circuits in the fob have deteriorated.
Am I able to clone the fob without the ignition key number from the car I got the replacement BCM + ECU from?

I don't think you can clone a faulty fob to get a working fob.

you will need someone to read the security code from the "new" BCM
then have a new remote programmed to that code

No,
Its not that simple,
You could get someone to try and re-program the Key in.

My advice would be to get a New Genuine Key Head and get that programmed in,
then you should not have a issues with it for a long time,
However, may I suggest you get a second one, and get that programmed in at the same time, because you never know when you may need a spare Key, because you know it will be the most inconvenient time/moment when you will require your spare Key and you wont have one,
hence the reason you normally get 2 Keys with a Car.

PS: Pay the Price Once for Quality Equipment.
