Hi everyone, my first post here. Just wondering what the remote range is for VS series III ute. I had to have the bcm replaced 2 weeks ago as the remote wouldn't work at all and as of today I am having problems locking and unlocking. It doesn't work all the time and I generally have to be about 3 foot away from the ute to unlock it. might as well use the key I visited holden as they were the ones that replaced the bcm and was told "sorry, that's the design flaw of the VS remote unit. Nothing we can do" $400 on a new bcm and i'm still using the key manually. Are they telling me the truth or fobbing me off?
my key wasnt working very well so i got a new one and it still only opens about 3-5m away from the car on a good day, usually i have to be within about 2m.
Mine's the same as sikvs - 3 to 5 metres and sometimes further. Just discovered when testing mine now that if the car is not locked and you press the unlock button on the key, the interior light comes on.
New Standards? My original keys were good out to about ten metres. They reached the end of their life recently, and I got a new one. Works to about 3 metres now. That is on a 1997 VS S2. I also have a 2004 VY S2. It also only works to about 3 metres. The owners manual states up to 4 metres. Maybe the transmitter is being weakened so it becomes harder for the signals to be picked up by anything other than your car. I have no problem with the reduced distance.
i got a series 111 ute aswell, mine opens from 20 metres sometimes, sometimes it only opens right next to the drivers door, it depends what mood the car is in, or the key, whatever works for it.
VR key range My key works from about 4m away, but is intermittent when trying to start the car, the battery test OK. Can you buy or does anyone have just the black shell halves I can buy. My rubber button is broken, the electronics are OK and so is the key part. For a VR Executive. Peter.
