I just bought a VS V8 Calais from a council auction yard, its got no keys with it. I'm wanting to know if there's any way of starting the car to listen to the motor? Its going to be a donor car, and I want to hear if the motor and trans are healthy? Any help would be appreciated.

You may be able to remove the actual ignition switch from behind the ignition key/steering lock, then rotate till the reds come on, wait 1hour and it should start (this overcomes the immobiliser).
However, you also should be able to get a fair idea of the condition of the engine by checking the coolant which should be green or red and also check the oil to see if it's black indicating neglect. Could also screw plugs out to check. If there is no coolant it may indicate the engine overheated and may be cooked. Good Luck.
