hey guys just wondering where people have mounted a kill switch in their cars. is it easy to do?
what wires do we need to splice etc..
i looked in my mates vs ute and noticed like a push button where the light goes on berlina and upwards models.. its like a choke switch for those used to motorbikes..
i thought this was a good idea as you can kick the kill switch before exiting the car and if anyone is watching they will not see you turn it on...
any help with this would be greatly appreciated...
another idea i was thinking about is to install the foglight switch into my car and have that as the kill switch like it has to be pushed in for the car to start or something like that...

well thanks for any input... cheers.

if yours is an auto, the easiest kill switch to make is to tap into the inhibitor switch

ive seen this kick switch from jay car not sure on the model number but ill search for it

im planning on doing this as well

mhmm let us know if you find anything man. i was just thinking.. it may not stop them stealing the stereo but at least they wont nick off with my whole car..

and its cheap and effective... works just as well if not better than an alarm..

    Hey mate,

Try searching 'kill switch' in the Electrical Wiring section. We have discussed this a bit so you should be able to find the info you need. Here is one of the pages:

    http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/electrical-wiring-questions/63870-kill-switch.html

There was a diagram too if that helps in one of the posts once. Any other questions feel free to ask. Down the bottom of that page that I have just linked you too there are another 5 links to other posts about the same thing - actually down the bottom of this page there are also another 5 links of pages for 'kill switch' that might be useful. Hope that helps.

On a mates car, we used the transmission inhibitor switch and cut and joined it under the dash in the main harness (so it was not obvious if someone ripped the console out, or stereo surround out to steal a stereo.)
Also if someone tried to start it with the switch in the wrong position the horn would start blaring away (which for his missus was embarrassing the first few times, at the shopping center or picking the kids up from school.)
Was a bit of mucking around, but worth it in the end.

Originally his switch was a momentary toggle switch but we changed that too. Becaus ewhen ever he had to put his car in for service or get stuff done on it he would have had to tell people about it.
So we put a on/off switch in. So he could leave it in the on position when he needed to leavce it somewhere for work, without everyone eventually finding out about it!
