The ss needs to be brought down to earth a little just wondering what you guys think I should go with. I want a tuff low look but not crazy and unusable.
Kings seems to be well respected brand but any one with another suggestions I would appreciate.
    Thanks

I'm in the same boat. It's hard to get your head around all the options. I don't know how good the 19s will look lowered. I think the 20s might fill it out just right. Pedders are also an option for me.

Thanks Flyer. I'm thinking 20's are a must mate. Do peddles use their own brand?

Anyone with experience with super lows I would appreciate feedback from. I'm now thinking ultra low could be painfull.

I don't have 20" but mines mildly lowered on 19" and to get it as low as one would ideally want it looks wise(I need another 20mm ideally)it would scrape too much on current rims I feel,so id have to agree 20" would be the ideal set up..
I have lovells on mine(walkinshaw use them for their basic lowering mod),dont see them mentioned much at all but they are just fine imo,,king springs get mentioned about 5 times a day on here it seems lol so they must be a good product seeing as a lot of commies seem to have them.

Ultra low may be ok,but SL on 20" should look sweet IMO.

19s or 20s won't matter, the rolling diameter should be the same and won't lift or lower the car at all. Its only how much rim vs tyre U have.

say using the same 35 aspect tyre I have with my 19's with another 25mm or rim size, does that not give another 25mm of filling the wheel arch?? think I worded my previous post wrong re lowering the car versus reducing guard to tyre gap which this would do? or am I temporarily off my chops? :p

I used to run King's "super low" but went to their "ultra low" a short time ago. I had the rear guards rolled as they were touching. The springs have settled in now.
Around town it's not to bad. But scuffing judder bars is normal. But because it's not a daily driver it's not a biggie.

    Top picture "super lows".
    Bottom "ultra lows".
    Wheel is a just a 19".

    Hope that helps.

After seeing that pic I will defo be going with super low.
Ultras look great but I think as a daily it won't work.

Gotta remember the ve/vf arches are a fair bit bigger than vt -vz arches like in the picture. Mine tucks a bit of rim on my tweetys at the rear on ssl. Don't really see many ve's tucking. They always seem to look a bit higher to me because of that.

Sorry mate what I meant to say was the ve/vf arches are bigger than the vt - vz like In the pic with the clubsport. So they look a bit higher because the wheels don't tuck.

    I'll edit that lol.

that's wrong. Every diameter uses a different profile tyre.

you have 245/40s on a VE/VF with 19s and 245/35 on a 20 inch wheel. If you ran 245/45R20s there incorrect and too big for your vehicle .

Too lower a VF they should use the same springs as a VE so read this thread http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/ve-holden-commodore-2006-2013/152423-king-springs-ves.html

yep your right my tyres are 245/40/19 not 35..more minimal arch fill of 15mm on 245/35/20's then I believe..highly doubt ill be changing mine anytime soon if at all.

    you've lost me

245/40R19 tyres have a overall diameter of 678.6

245/35R20 tyres have a overall diameter of 679.5

that an extra 1mm of guard fill.

Im using this link to calculate sizes Tyre Size Calculator

    Miki,

I'm running superlows in the front of my VE and Lows in the rear. I did this after changing springs a few times to get a decent similarity in the top of the tyre to botton of guard gap front to rear because if you run the same springs front and rear it aligns the bottom of the sill horozontally with the ground and you get a car that looks alot higher at the front than at the back when looking side on. Some guys want that and thats fine but it wasnt for me.

Probably what you were more asking about was scraping and stuff. Well with the superlows in the front I have a nice gap over the top of the tyre on the factory 19's however because the chin of the front bar sits so low naturally on my series 2 VE i've kaned it heaps of times in parking spots, the driveways with the curvy guttering etc. it also lowers the car to the point where i scrape underneath, either the cats and or sills if im going over a crested driveway or similar.

This with kings superlows in the front and lows in the rear. I could only imagine the Ultralows would be an absolute prick scraping wise. I'm not going to change mine as it looks and drives fantastic, you just have to be extracareful on the front end and accept that your going to scrape sometimes.

I just had pedders fit sports coils to the front of my VF SS Ute.
When I first bought it, the 245/45/18 looked really skinny. There was a 50mm gap to the guard above the tyres, and a 25mm gap front and rear in the guard. (ish....) I loaded it up with my tools etc, the stuff that stays in all the time, and the back dropped 25mm. I had 25mm drop installed to the front, and everything looks a lot better. It's not low enough to worry about scraping, I just have to take it slow through our driveway, we're on the high side of a hill, and the gutter return is pretty savage.
