I was wondering how a set of 245/50/19 tyres that Kluger use would go on my 08 V8 SSV.The reason I ask is to get a bit more distance between rim and QLD potholed roads.I have already lost(shattered)one rim to this scenario.I realise they are not a performance tyre, but I only drive to work and do long trips, with the occasional trip to the tip.I thought these tyres would give a softer ride, maybe last a bit longer than the Potenzas, and of coarse handle the potholes a bit better.
Any views or comments guys??

If I step down to a smaller rim and want to maintain the diameter I would have to go to a dedicated ofroad tyre.

If you're trying to maintain you factory rolling diameter, going from a 245/40/19 to 245/50/19 will not work. As Troy said the speedo will be wrong.
Meanwhile stepping down to an 18" wheel, which is standard on an SS. You will use a 245/45/18. This will give you more sidewall, smoother ride and keep your speedo accurate.
This is not an offroad tyre at all.
