2nd problem with the car is when i fully turn the steering wheel one way it makes a rubbing niose. if i dont do it fully it makes no rubbing noise. any ideas on wat is going on here?

Where is the whiney noise coming from?

What kind of rubbing noise exactly? Most cars will make some noise at full lock...and you shouldnt use full lock away...when doing a u-turn or something when you hit full lock turn the steering wheel back a fraction so that its not at full lock. You simply should not be turning the car at full lock anyway.

the whiney noise seems to b coming from the drivers side off the car.

the rubbing noise sounds like when rubber hits metal.

Well if the car is lowered perhaps the tyre is rubbing against the guard...I would just avoid using full lock.

The whiney noise could be many things...I cant help without seeing the car/hearing the actual noise... but good luck finding the problem man.

Im sure the VL guys will have a few suggestions for that and the odometer when everyone is awake ;)

the distance recorder problem is mentioned as a common problem, I dont know how its fixed, some say to question the distance reading on any VL as the recording part has probably broken in the past
look at the front tyres for any rubbing marks

yah the whining nosie could be the power steering under pressure when u got it at full lock and hold it there, as said b4 you should neva hold it at full lock hold it a fraction of full lock

and the odo/trip mine was doing that, so i took it apart and gave it a good blow out and it seamed to fix it fine

Simply remove your cluster and send to an instrument specialist. They'll give it a going over, replace damaged cogs and check for speedo accuracy etc.
