Knocking in rear end maybe right handside.

Hey guys dont know if this the right place to post this but my 2005 VZ wagon and started to have a knock when turning left mainly from rear. goes away on straight but can get it to make noise if i brake a bit and take off. Could this be simple time for a diff oil replacement maybe? the car has done 160,000. Or is this maybe something not right in the handbrake mech maybe? Or suspension related or driveline eg shafts? Please help as and currently unemployed and need this sorted urgently. Have you guys had this issue and solved it? The noise almost sound like something binding or knocking as the wheels rotate.
